hold up there partner! this blog post is still a work in progress!

if you notice this post ends abruptly or seems to be missing something, it probably is! i'm still working on writing it.

so, until it's finished, it won't be linked in the archive, and the file name is subject to change (as i might release it on a different date!)

march 2024 site updates etc

overview

new - projects page

been working on improving the projects page, and by the time this is formally posted, the projects page should be linked in the sidebar!

there was definitely a lot to clean up first. for instance there was a bunch of stuff i copied to make a new section... and then i forgot to make the new section. oops.

that's all fixed now though! so now, the projects page links to everything in the projects folder, my github stuff, and now all of my public toyhouse codes! yippee!

i'm excited to have an easy hub for all my silly little adventures.

TODO: decide if projects in about page should be migrated to projects page (in a new folder?)

ongoing - accessibility

i am struggling a little with trying to make sure the project page, and my site at large, are accessible.

some things i have started doing to achieve this:

  • i've added some alt text (via spans visible only to screen readers) to some icons that needed it on the project page. there are probably more places that need this treatment, though.
  • TODO:

things I still want to do across the site in terms of accessibility include:

  • adding some text transforms for acronyms, so i can keep the lowercase look without confusing screen readers (hopefully)
  • seeing where punctuation is necessary for screen readers, and putting secret periods or something to make them split up text properly
  • doing some sort of 'audit' on my popup implementation, to gauge the screen reader compatability. the browser extension i was using works a bit clunky with it
  • make sure site is able to be navigated via tab (currently, the "settings" button can't be reached??)

upcoming - portfolio

i've been kind of working on an experimental gallery thing with a lightbox now and then, but i've come to the realization that i also could REALLY use a proper portfolio setup, especially for my 3d art.

i used to use my carrd for this, but unfortunately that digital gallery was lost in the Great Carrd Eatening of 2022. not the images themselves, thankfully! but uh, it's kind of awkward to run around telling people you do 3d art too but not being able to show them any of it.

so! the plan is to start throwing together a nicely formatted gallery of some hopefully decent captures of some 3d work i've done.

hopefully this will include seperating them by styles, subjects, whatever. and i hope to also include some blender screenshots, maybe turnarounds, in addition to the vrchat screenshots i primarily post.

i might also see about some sort of 3d mesh viewer... that sounds kind of scary though.
