runaway

runaway is a visual novel exploring in retrospect the story of one actias lumine de/he/theyde/dust/dus/dusts/dustself, a dnd character i played in a campaign run by my pal wybie.

the demo was made in under 2 weeks for a college project. it's a short experience that runs on vibes (and in your browser).
it's a brief window into someone else's introspection, distant grief, and regret.

will there be a full game? unknown!
i have a lot of material and a few ideas how to weave a larger narrative together, but i haven't fully settled on a direction yet.
and game dev is a hobby for me, so i follow my own fun - and right now, my interests are largely in other places.

that said, i'm quite proud of the demo! i learned so much 💖

the demo is currently private! i need to make a few small changes to prepare it for a public release!

moonstruck will be a visual novel dating simulator, featuring a personable cast of original furry characters.

it's mostly a solo project, with me on art & coding. however there are other contributors to the designs, and i often consult with friends about my ideas. I'll probably end up commissioning music when that time comes, but we'll see!

the game itself is being made in ren'py, the same engine as a lot of big visual novels, including scarlet hollow! (which is my favorite game btw. if you missed that.)

clowder simulator

type: game
status: prototyping
updated october 2025

clowder simulator will be a storytelling game, where you play as a group of cats (also known as a clowder)!
my goal is to (try to) fill that cat colony life-sim/survival/creature-game niche my inner warrior cats kid craves.

it's primarily inspired by the sims 3 warrior cats legacy challenges i played as a kid. i loved playing out the story of my warriors ocs, taking care of them, and all that. my current protoype "vibe" references also include spore, rain world, and the general concept of an environment sim.

but the sims 3 wasn't built for feral cat play! i was making up rules and random events to add a fraction of the spice you'd get from those books, and it worked OKAY, but it messed with my immersion, and sometimes it just wasn't even fun. every prey item from bugs to sharks filled the same amount of hunger.

for me, i really want a bit of survival, a bit of life sim, and a bit of fictional cat society! i've personally enjoyed creating unique governing systems for my kitty characters, and i want to make that sort of stuff accessible so folks can get creative with worldbuilding.

currently, clowder simulator is a solo project! it's very, very early in development, and the first non-visual-novel game i've started. i'm expecting it to take a long time before i graduate from prototypes to something that feels like a game.

but i'm okay with that! clowder simulator is a big dream for a new dev, but it's dear to my heart.

jaySMP: xera

the jaySMP was a minecraft survival multiplayer server with a focus on collaborative storytelling & giving everyone a chance to shine, named after the server's host. it shut down unexpectedly sometime 2024 due to technical difficulties resulting in the loss of the save file.

i played xera (they/them or star/stars/starself), a strange traveller on the outskirts of town who is later revealed to be a space alien.

star was first encountered by locals near a hunk of flaming scrap metal - the crash site of their spaceship. star is, initially, far more science-oriented than friend-oriented. they care about life and the environment and yet they're a condescending homebody.

they go through a bit of an arc where they start actually caring about the people around them as their appearances in lore continue.
but so many questions are still left unanswered. why did xera come to this planet? will they ever get back home? and what do they really look like, if this is just a disguise?

with the server closing, i don't have any interest in making video content about them anymore.
but maybe someday i'll write up an epilogue for them.

here's one of their lore chapters: Helping Xera
